We offer a range of research opportunities for students, including hands-on experience in leading edge fields. At Stevens, we have 15 research centers and labs working at the forefront of innovation in areas including resilience, sustainability, quantum engineering, biotechnology, cybersecurity, data science, artificial intelligence, fintech, financial engineering and healthcare.

Foundational Research Pillars

Stevens performs leading-edge research in a wide variety of critical disciplines. The university has chosen to exert particular research focus on six specific foundational pillars in which Stevens currently possesses leading expertise.

Artificial Intelligence

Stevens develops artificial intelligence for societal good, while also studying and working to mitigate its potential drawbacks, through the interdisciplinary Stevens Institute for Artificial Intelligence (SIAI).

Business and Finance

Powered by the Hanlon Financial Systems Center, a state-of-the-art financial research and teaching facility, Stevens' industry-collaborative research touches all aspects of business, fintech and the financial industry including regulation, investment, market stress-testing and prediction, leadership and labor economics.

Energy and Sustainability

Stevens develops sustainable solutions for the future of the planet, including new filter materials, smarter power grids, better batteries and renewable energy sources, and environmental sustainability planning.

Health and Medicine

Through our interdisciplinary Semcer Center for Healthcare Innovation (CHI), Stevens is working in key research areas toward the future benefit of patients worldwide.

Quantum Science and Engineering

Stevens explores the leading edges of quantum science, developing novel hardware, algorithmic systems and applications for computing, communication, security, privacy, finance, homeland security and more in the university's Center for Quantum Science and Engineering (CQSE).

From defending critical infrastructure against cyber threats to testing next-generation aerospace systems, Stevens Institute of Technology leads groundbreaking security research that protects people, assets and interests.

Urban & Coastal Resilience

Stevens' Davidson Laboratory is a national leader in resiliency research, helping communities plan, prepare and face challenges such as extreme weather and climate change with leading-edge prediction systems and engineered defenses.

Besides our online application, you'll need:

• Transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
• Two letters of recommendations
• $60 non-refundable application fee
• Depending on your program, native language and academic background, a personal statement (all full-time applicants), resume (School of Business only), writing sample (Ph.D. only) and proof of language proficiency may be required
• GRE/GMAT test optional policy is in effect for graduate Master of Science, Master of Engineering and MBA applicants. The Ph.D. program continues to require the GRE/GMAT of all full-time applicants
